My Stay at The Pacific Sutera Hotel in Kota Kinabalu – Honest Review from a Real Traveler

 


If you're planning a trip to Kota Kinabalu and looking for a beachfront hotel with a peaceful vibe,
I’d highly recommend checking out The Pacific Sutera Hotel.

I stayed here during my first visit to Malaysia and I can honestly say,
it offered everything I was hoping for in a resort – stunning views, a relaxing pool, great food, and friendly staff.

Here’s my full, personal review 👇

📍 Location: Close to the City & the Airport

The Pacific Sutera Hotel is ideally located between Kota Kinabalu International Airport and the city center.
It took me about 10 minutes by Grab to reach the hotel from the airport.

Plus, Imago Shopping Mall is just a short ride away — perfect for picking up snacks, souvenirs, or just escaping the heat.

The location made it easy to move around without stress.

🏖️ Poolside Paradise

This was my favorite part of the hotel!
The pool is large, clean, and overlooks the South China Sea. It felt like a luxury escape without the crazy price tag.

Highlights:

  • Sunset views are unreal 🌅

  • Plenty of sunbeds available, even in the afternoon

  • There’s a pool bar that serves cocktails and light bites

  • Family-friendly: a kids’ pool is also available nearby

Whether you’re traveling with a partner, family, or solo – you’ll love this pool.

🍽️ Breakfast Buffet – Varied & Delicious

Breakfast at the hotel is served at Cafe Boleh, located on the ground floor.
They offer a decent buffet that includes:

  • Western, local, and Chinese selections

  • Made-to-order omelets

  • Fresh fruits, pastries, and juices

  • Decent coffee (trust me, I’m picky!)

It was a great way to fuel up before a full day of sightseeing or snorkeling.

🛏️ Room: Ocean View = Worth It

I booked the Ocean View Deluxe Room, and it was totally worth the small upgrade.

My room had:

  • A wide window with an amazing sea view

  • A comfortable bed and clean sheets

  • Fast Wi-Fi, mini fridge, work desk

  • A spacious bathroom with good water pressure

Although the hotel isn’t brand new, it’s well-maintained and very clean.

🌿 Other Facilities

  • Golf: There’s a 27-hole golf course right next to the hotel

  • Spa: I got a massage at Chavana Spa – relaxing and professional

  • Fitness Center: Clean, air-conditioned, and well-equipped

  • Convenience Store on-site for quick snacks or essentials

  A real traveler’s review of the ferry terminal that connects you to Sabah’s stunning islands If you’re planning a trip to Kota Kinabalu , chances are high that you’ll pass through Jesselton Point — the city’s primary ferry terminal for island hopping. But beyond being just a pier, Jesselton Point holds historical value , logistical importance , and local charm that can either enhance or frustrate your trip, depending on how prepared you are. Here’s my honest take after personally using this terminal for a Sapi Island trip. 📍 Location & How to Get There Jesselton Point is centrally located , just a 5–10 minute walk from Suria Sabah Shopping Mall.
